Hello! As you can probably guess, my name is Stacy, and this is my web site about all things related to my main professional passions, technology and education.

I came to work in technology education through a very circuitous route – I actually started out as an English Literature major! Like many people, however, I discovered that my career path took me far outside of my college academic pursuits.

While I was an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to teach a supplemental class in general biology for non-STEM majors. I loved teaching this class because I had been through a few educational experiences that decimated my confidence when it came to studying in science fields, so it felt very good to be able to help students succeed in biology and discover a new source of confidence and self-efficacy!

My other teaching experiences as an undergraduate included tutoring students in academic writing when I was a sophomore, and acting as a Teacher’s Assistant in physical anthropology classes, including Physical Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology, and Primatology.

After my undergraduate education was finished, I found myself working in the technology field, first in client support, and then in training and documentation for a health care IT company. This allowed me to put my teaching hat on again as I developed synchronous and asynchronous training programs and materials together for our clients, worked with the development team to make our help features fit seamlessly into our software product, and spent a lot of time providing on-site training for medical professionals and administrators in hospitals around the country.

More recently, I’ve been working as a Program Manager for a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for education in technology to children and adults, where I get to teach people how to code and help them pursue new careers in the technology sector.

I’m also working on my M.S. Ed. in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology at the University at Albany. I hope to finish my studies there in August of 2020!
